Fuel gauge issues

SInce the boat was sitting for a long time I drained out the fual tank and filled it to the brim with some fresh fuel. The boar started, ran great and everything was great. The problem I noticed is that the fuel gauge was showing empty, which is weird. Could the needle be stuck or is it something else?

If the boat runs fine but the gauge still shows empty, its probably the sending unit, either the float's stuck or theres a wiring issue. Quick way to check is to test the sender with a multimeter or tap the tank gently to see if the needle moves

Yeah, it could be a stuck needle, but it might also be a faulty sending unit in the tank especially if the boat sat for a while, corrosion or gunk can mess with the float or wiring

I'm dealing with the same issue...and possibly for the same reasons...had my boat sitting for quite a while and now the fuel reading is definitely not trustworthy.

Sounds about right @Rodimus. Sitting seems to be the common thread here. If you still have not resolved it yet, I think you can start with the sending unit and wiring before blaming the gauge itself, did you notice if it moves at all when the boat’s running or bouncing around?
